KKR’s Venkatesh Iyer on ₹23.75 Crore Price Tag Pressure: ‘It Exists, You Can’t Ignore It’
Venkatesh Iyer, who became the third-most expensive player in IPL history, has been named vice-captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), while veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team in the upcoming season.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 season, Iyer admitted feeling the weight of his hefty ₹23.75 crore price tag after being acquired by KKR in last year’s mega auction.
During a recent press conference, new captain Rahane, mentor Dwayne Bravo, head coach Chandrakant Pandit, and Iyer shared their thoughts on the team’s preparations for the season.
When asked about managing the pressure of his price tag, Iyer acknowledged: “It exists. You can’t ignore it altogether, but once the IPL starts, it really doesn’t matter. You’re part of a playing XI, part of a team that is going out there to win.”
