Tata Motors has officially launched the updated 2025 model of the Tiago NRG in the Indian market, introducing refreshed design elements and enhanced features. Based on the standard Tata Tiago, the NRG variant is now available exclusively in XZ and XZ+ trims, following the discontinuation of the XT variant.

The Tiago NRG is offered in both petrol and CNG variants and holds the distinction of being India’s most affordable CNG hatchback with an automatic transmission, thanks to its twin-cylinder technology. Pricing for the 2025 Tiago NRG starts at ₹7.20 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹8.75 lakh for the top-end model. The NRG variant is ₹30,000 more expensive than the standard Tiago.

Mileage and Performance

Tata Motors claims impressive fuel efficiency figures for the Tiago NRG across both fuel options:

  • CNG Mode:
    • AMT (Automatic): 28.06 km/kg
    • Manual Transmission: 26.49 km/kg
  • Petrol Mode:
    • AMT (Automatic): 19.43 km/l
    • Manual Transmission: 20.1 km/l

Although the Tiago NRG does not have a direct rival in the Indian market, it will compete in terms of pricing with hatchbacks such as the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, and Citroën C3.

Design and Exterior Updates

The 2025 Tata Tiago NRG features a redesigned grille and LED headlights, similar to the standard Tiago. However, the NRG variant sports a more rugged look with a blacked-out bumper and silver skid plate. In contrast, the regular Tiago features chrome-finished air dams and fog lights, which are absent in the NRG model.

Key Exterior Differences:

  • Wheels & Ground Clearance: The Tiago NRG rides on 14-inch steel wheels, whereas the standard Tiago gets 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The NRG variant also offers a higher ground clearance of 181mm.
  • Side and Rear Styling: The NRG variant features black body cladding, black door handles, and black ORVMs, distinguishing it from the standard model. The rear bumper on the NRG gets a black and silver finish, while the regular Tiago showcases chrome accents on the tailgate.

Interior & Features

Inside, the 2025 Tiago NRG gets a completely black cabin with black seat upholstery, while the standard Tiago features a dual-tone grey and white interior theme. Both models are equipped with a new 2-spoke Smart Digital Steering Wheel with a Tata logo in the center.

Key Interior Features:

  • 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Updated digital driver display
  • Rain-sensing wipers
  • Automatic headlights
  • Electrically adjustable, foldable ORVMs
  • 8-speaker sound system
  • Auto AC (available only in the standard Tiago)

Safety Features

Both the Tiago NRG and the standard Tiago come equipped with essential safety features, including:

  • Dual front airbags
  • Rear parking camera with sensors
  • Hill hold control
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
  • Rear defogger
  • Electronic stability control (ESC)

Engine and Performance

The 2025 Tiago NRG retains the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, bi-fuel petrol engine, delivering:

  • Petrol Mode: 84hp power, 113Nm torque
  • CNG Mode: 72hp power, 95Nm torque

For transmission, the car offers both a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT (automated manual transmission).

Conclusion

With updated features, new design elements, and improved fuel efficiency, the 2025 Tata Tiago NRG strengthens its appeal in the affordable hatchback segment. Its rugged styling and practical CNG automatic option make it a compelling choice for budget-conscious buyers looking for a mix of efficiency and style.
