The Central Government has given the green signal for a new train service between Agartala (Tripura) and Guwahati (Narangi, Assam), marking a significant stride toward improving connectivity and development in the Northeast region.
📌 Tripura MP Biplab Kumar Deb expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, thanking them for this key infrastructural development aimed at enhancing the travel experience of people in the region.

The newly approved train service will strengthen economic, cultural, and social ties between Tripura and Assam.

It is expected to reduce travel time, enhance logistics, and improve accessibility for remote and border areas.

Vande Bharat Proposal
In a related move, Tripura CM Manik Saha has also urged the Centre to introduce a Vande Bharat Express between Agartala and Guwahati. If approved, this would be the first semi-high-speed train for Tripura, providing faster and more efficient travel.

The Badarpur–Agartala section has already been fully electrified.
