From the glorious land of Aligarh, the unique father-son duo—renowned senior poet Amar Singh Rahi and Bharat Vibhushan litterateur Dr. Avnish Rahi—have created a history in the literary world that has illuminated not only Aligarh’s name but also the pride of entire India on the global stage. Their joint endeavor has produced the monumental “Bhim Charit Manas Epic” spanning 550 pages, which has been officially recorded in the prestigious Golden Book of World Records.
This epic is extraordinary, comprising 7 Kands, 75 Chapters, 36 Folk Forms, and 206 Characters. It presents a detailed narrative of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s life, from birth to his complete struggle and ultimate Mahaparinirvan. Its most remarkable feature is the revival of dying poetic and musical forms such as Chhand, Savaiya, Lavani, Choubola, Kavita, Baharatabil, Bhajan, Ragini, Geet, Alha, Doha, and Dialogues. In literary history, no epic had been composed in such a diverse array of folk forms before, which is why it has earned the recognition of a world record.
Published by Samyak Prakashan, New Delhi, the writing journey of this epic began on 14 October 1994—the same day when Baba Saheb embraced Buddhism—and after two years of day-and-night dedication, it was completed in June 1996. The historic release ceremony was held at the official residence of the then Vice President, His Excellency Dr. Hamid Ansari.
At the felicitation ceremony in Noida, Indian Chief Alok Kumar and Asia Head Dr. Manish Bishnoi of the Golden Book of World Records honored this erudite father-son duo with a certificate of honor, official recognition, symbolic emblem, and shawl. On this occasion, they stated:
“Bhim Charit Manas Epic is an immortal work; it will serve as a historic source of inspiration for both literature and society.”
While receiving the honor, litterateur Dr. Avnish Rahi and poet Amar Singh Rahi said:
“This achievement is not only ours but belongs to the entire literary world and society. This epic, based on Baba Saheb’s life, is an effort to revive the dying beloved folk forms. We are proud that our dedication has received recognition on the global stage.”
It is worth noting that Bharat Vibhushan litterateur Dr. Avnish Rahi serves as a lecturer at Hiralal Barahsaini Inter College, Aligarh, and was recently honored with the Vidya Vachaspati Doctorate (Honorary Degree).
