Calicut, Kerala: From the humble lanes of Malabar to international recognition, Dr. Nuzarath Jahan’s journey is one marked by passion, resilience, and an unyielding drive to serve humanity. An aviation expert turned philanthropist, social activist, and political voice, her story is not just inspiring—it’s transformational.
Raised in Kozhikode, Nuzarath is the eldest daughter of E.K. Mohammed, a unionist at Mavoor Gwalior Rayons who later became a Pravasi in the Gulf, and KP Nafeesa. Her father’s life and struggles left a lasting impression on young Nuzarath, sowing the seeds of social justice in her heart.
Armed with an MBA in Aviation Security Management from Australia and rich experience across global airlines like Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Air India, she could’ve easily settled for a lucrative corporate life. Instead, she chose the harder road—one filled with activism, compassion, and relentless service.
Her activism took shape during the Kerala floods, where she was on the ground with her foundation, Happy Voice, providing aid to victims. But she didn’t stop there. Seeing the plight of Indians abroad—especially the underpaid and overlooked migrants in Arab countries—she took it upon herself to fight for their rights.
In 2018, her hunger strike demanding affordable repatriation of deceased Indians abroad forced the government to reduce charges, making the process accessible for families. In 2019, she took a bold step into politics, contesting the Calicut Parliament seat to bring visibility to minority and Pravasi issues.
As a member of the Republican Party of India (Athawale), she now serves as the National Vice President. She is also the International President of the International Human Rights Defenders and a proud member of the Human Rights Commission of the United Nations—a role that extends her impact on a global scale.
Her tireless work has earned her numerous accolades: the Nari Shakti Award, National Women’s Excellence Award, and the Global Pride Award, to name a few. A published author and speaker, she continues to blend intellect with activism, making her a powerful force for change.
“Education is liberation,” she says, advocating for the upliftment of backward and minority communities through literacy and opportunity. “Fill the mind, soul, and stomach—that’s real development.”
Dr. Nuzarath Jahan isn’t just making a mark—she’s carving a path for many others to follow.
