Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency is set to release on OTT soon. The actress made the announcement herself via social media. She shared a story on her Instagram handle today, revealing details about the film’s digital release.

Kangana posted an image of Emergency alongside a photo of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In her caption, she wrote, “Emergency will be streamed on Netflix on March 17.”

Film Released Amid Controversies

The film Emergency, based on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, was released on January 17. Kangana portrayed the role of Indira Gandhi, while the ensemble cast included Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, and the late Satish Kaushik.

Censor Board Delays and Legal Challenges

Originally, Emergency was slated for release on June 14, 2024. However, the date was pushed back due to the Lok Sabha elections. The film was then scheduled for release on September 6, 2024, but just days before its premiere, the Censor Board denied it certification, citing controversial scenes.

On August 30, Kangana claimed that her film had initially been approved but was later blocked due to pressure from influential figures. She took the matter to the High Court after the film faced additional objections in Telangana, particularly over certain scenes related to the Sikh community.

The film was eventually cleared by the Censor Board on October 17, but its release remained uncertain due to legal battles and protests. Several complaints were filed against Kangana across the country, and there were widespread demands for a ban. The Sikh community also strongly opposed the film.

Box Office Collection

According to reports by Sekonil, Emergency earned ₹18.35 crore at the Indian box office and ₹23.75 crore worldwide.
