“Art Shouldn’t Be Linked with Politics”: Sunny Deol on Fawad Khan’s Comeback—Says Unity and Opportunity Are Essential Everywhere

Following the 2016 Uri attack, Pakistani artists faced significant backlash in India. Consequently, many filmmakers began distancing themselves from Pakistani actors in Bollywood. However, Pakistani actor Fawad Khan is now making a comeback with his new film Abhi Gulal, sparking renewed debate.

Actor Sunny Deol, currently in the spotlight for his film Jatt, was asked about his thoughts on the matter. Responding to Fawad Khan’s return, Sunny said, “Unity and opportunity should exist everywhere.”

In a conversation with HT City, Sunny Deol remarked, “Look, I don’t want to get involved in politics because that’s where things start to go wrong. We are actors—we work for people from every corner of the world. Whether someone watches us or not, we are here for everyone.”
He further added, “The world today is global. We should focus on connecting more countries—that’s the right path forward.”

Actress Ameesha Patel also voiced her support for Fawad Khan. “I’ve always liked Fawad Khan,” she said. “We should welcome every actor and musician. This is India’s culture—art is art. I don’t believe in discrimination. We should welcome international artists. Artists from across the globe are welcome here.”

Fawad Khan Returns to Bollywood After Eight Years

Fawad Khan’s film Abhi Gulal is set to release on May 9, co-starring Vaani Kapoor. This marks Fawad’s return to Bollywood after an eight-year hiatus. The teaser, released on April 1, has created a buzz among fans.

However, with the announcement of the release, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) began protesting against the film and has threatened to block its release in Maharashtra.
