India’s smartphone market saw 5% year-on-year growth in 2024, with 128 million units shipped, according to IDC. This growth was primarily driven by rising demand in tier 3 and 4 cities, while metro cities contributed to one-third of total sales.

Half-Yearly Trends
The market experienced 12% YoY growth in the first half of 2024, while the second half remained relatively flat. IDC attributes the overall growth to strong demand in mid and premium segments, especially from tier 2 to tier 4 cities.
