iPhone 16e Offers 26 Hours of Battery Life!
Apple’s Latest C1 Modem, 2-in-1 Camera, and More; Slightly Expensive for Its Specifications

Apple has launched a new smartphone, iPhone 16e, in the Indian market. It is the most affordable model in the iPhone 16 series. The company offers the phone in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage variants, with a starting price of ₹59,900.

The iPhone 16e is powered by Apple’s Bionic A18 chipset. It features a 6.1-inch XDR display, and Apple claims that its battery lasts up to 26 hours on a full charge. Additionally, it introduces Apple’s first in-house modem, called the Apple C1.

Apple’s Most Efficient Modem Yet

One of the standout features of this phone is its Apple C1 modem, which has never been used in any iPhone before. Previously, Apple relied on Qualcomm’s 5G AI Processor (Gen 2). The new C1 modem offers higher bandwidth and lower latency, improving download and upload speeds significantly. The 5G connectivity is expected to be better than previous iPhones. Apple claims this is its most efficient modem yet, which also contributes to longer battery life.

iPhone 16e: Design

The iPhone 16e’s design is similar to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series, with some subtle changes. It retains Apple’s signature flat-edge design, giving it a premium and modern look. The frame is made of aerospace-grade aluminum, making it lightweight yet durable. The phone weighs 167 grams and is just 7mm thick.

From the back, it might resemble an entry-level iPhone, but the front features a notch, similar to the iPhone 14. The phone is available in two color options: Black and White.

Like the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series, the iPhone 16e also includes an Action Button on the side. This button allows users to customize commands, such as opening the camera or toggling the flashlight. On the back, the phone features a single camera, unlike the dual-camera setup on the iPhone 16 series. It also lacks Dynamic Island and Camera Control, which are present in higher-end models.

iPhone 16e: Specifications

  • Software: Runs on iOS 18 out of the box and supports Apple Intelligence, just like the iPhone 16 series.

  • AI Features: Users can remove unwanted objects from photos. It also includes Crash Detection and Satellite Connectivity, enabling users to send messages even in areas with no network coverage. However, these features will be activated in India starting in April.

  • Genmoji Feature: With Apple Intelligence, users can create custom Genmojis. For example, typing “elephant” and “chef” will generate an emoji of an elephant wearing a chef’s hat.

  • ChatGPT Integration: Apple’s Notes app will feature built-in ChatGPT integration, allowing users to write, research, and edit text using AI.

  • Visual Intelligence: The Action Button is linked to Apple’s Visual Intelligence feature, enabling users to point the camera at an object and receive instant AI-generated information.

Processor & Performance

  • Powered by the Apple Bionic A18 chipset, ensuring fast and smooth performance

    • 90 hours of audio playback

  • Can charge 50% in 30 minutes with a 20W or higher adapter

Should You Buy the iPhone 16e?

The key question: Is the iPhone 16e worth buying?

If you’re looking for a flagship experience, the iPhone 15 might be a better choice. With discounts, the iPhone 15 is available for around ₹60,000, which is the same price as the 128GB variant of the iPhone 16e.

However, the iPhone 16e supports Apple Intelligence, while the iPhone 15 does not. The iPhone 15 features Dynamic Island, whereas the iPhone 16e comes with an Action Button.

If you’re considering buying the iPhone 16e, it might be better to wait for a price drop.
