Maruti Suzuki Increases Prices of Baleno by ₹9,000: Now Starts at ₹6.7 Lakh, Celerio Price Hiked by ₹32,500
Date: February 11, 2025 Mumbai, India: Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer, has raised the price of its premium hatchback, Baleno, by ₹9,000. Starting this month, customers will have to pay more for the popular car.
This price hike is part of a larger increase across several models in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio. Customers will notice increased prices on a variety of cars, including the Baleno, Celerio, Wagon R, Alto K10, SUV Brezza, Grand Vitara, and S-Presso. These changes are effective immediately and may vary depending on the city and variant.
Price Hike Details for Baleno
According to a statement from Maruti Suzuki, the price increase for Baleno will be ₹9,000, depending on the variant. The new price for the Baleno now starts at ₹6.7 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant. The top-end model will be available at ₹9.92 lakh (ex-showroom) in cities like Mumbai and Delhi.
Celerio and Other Models See Price Hike
In addition to the Baleno, Maruti Suzuki has also raised the prices of several other models. The price of the Celerio has been increased by ₹32,500, while prices for other models like the Franks, Designer, and Invicto have also risen.
The compact SUV Franks will see a ₹5,500 increase, while the price of the Designer variant will go up by ₹10,000. The Invicto will experience a price hike of ₹30,000.
Why the Price Increase?
Maruti Suzuki explained that the price hikes are due to increased costs in manufacturing and materials. The company remains committed to minimizing the impact on customers but has passed on a portion of the increased costs to the market.
Maruti Suzuki’s Market Share and Performance
Maruti Suzuki is the leader in the Indian automobile market, holding a 40% share. In November 2024, the company sold 1.44 lakh cars, reflecting a 7.46% growth compared to the previous year. Maruti Suzuki’s SUV range, including the Brezza, Fronx, and Grand Vitara, saw a 17% increase in sales in the utility vehicle segment.
