Elio Trailer: A Thrilling Cosmic Misadventure With Eccentric Alien Lifeforms
Mumbai:
The trailer for the upcoming animated movie Elio has been released, introducing audiences to a thrilling cosmic adventure. The film follows an 11-year-old boy whose greatest wish is to be abducted by aliens. He embarks on an unexpected journey alongside his Aunt Olga (voiced by Zoe Saldana) and Glordon (voiced by Remy Edgerly), his first unlikely friend—who also happens to be an alien.
Voiced by Yonas Kibreab, Elio finds himself traveling millions of miles across the universe, encountering a variety of strange and fascinating alien creatures. Along the way, he begins to uncover where he truly belongs.
A space enthusiast with a vivid imagination and a deep fascination with extraterrestrial life, Elio is suddenly transported to the Communiverse, an intergalactic organization where representatives from countless galaxies gather. However, due to a misunderstanding, he is mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader. Now, he must forge bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of cosmic proportions, and ultimately discover his own identity and purpose.
Directed by Madeline Sharafian (Burrow), Domee Shi (Bao, Turning Red), and Adrian Molina (co-screenwriter/co-director of Coco), and produced by Mary Alice Drumm (associate producer of Coco), the film also features the voices of Brad Garrett as Lord Grigon and Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa.
A Disney and Pixar production, Elio is set to premiere in theaters on June 20, 2025.
The latest trailer introduces a significantly different tone compared to the original, with several key scenes reimagined to align with a new narrative direction. While the full extent of these changes remains unclear, the differences suggest a fresh perspective on the story.
Meanwhile, Zoe Saldana recently won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Emilia Perez. The film, based on Jacques Audiard’s opera libretto of the same name, is loosely adapted from a chapter in the 2018 novel Écoute by French writer Boris Razon.
Emilia Perez follows the journey of a Mexican cartel leader (played by Karla Sofía Gascón) who seeks to disappear and transition into a woman with the help of a lawyer.
