EPFO Achieves Record 2.16 Crore Auto Claim Settlements in FY25
New System to Enable Direct PF Withdrawals from ATMs
New Delhi: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has set a new benchmark by processing 2.16 crore auto claim settlements in the current financial year (as of March 6, 2025), a significant rise from 89.52 lakh in FY 2023-24, the Parliament was informed on Monday.
Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, stated in a written reply to the Lok Sabha that 99.31% of claims are now received online, eliminating the need for members to visit field offices. As of March 6, 2025, a total of 7.14 crore claims have been filed through the online platform.
To enhance efficiency, the limit for auto-mode processing of advance claims has been increased to ₹1 lakh. Previously available only for medical emergencies, this facility now covers housing, education, and marriage-related claims, leading to 60% of advance claims being processed automatically.
Faster Claim Processing and Simplified Member Services
EPFO has significantly reduced claim settlement time, with auto-mode claims now processed within three days. Additionally, member detail corrections have been simplified, allowing individuals with Aadhaar-verified UANs to update their details independently without EPFO intervention. Currently, 96% of corrections are being processed directly by members.
In another key update, EPFO has eliminated the need for employer attestation in most transfer claim requests for Aadhaar-verified UANs. Now, only 10% of such claims require employer and member attestation. Furthermore, the requirement to submit a cheque leaf with claim forms has been relaxed for KYC-compliant UANs meeting the prescribed criteria.
EPFO has also introduced a de-linking facility for members whose EPF accounts were erroneously or fraudulently linked by establishments. Since its launch on January 18, 2025, over 55,000 members have successfully de-linked their accounts as of February 2025.
EPFO 3.0: Banking-Like Convenience for PF Withdrawals
To further streamline operations, EPFO is implementing a centralized IT-enabled system (CITES 2.01) to enhance the claim settlement process. Additionally, the organization is set to introduce ‘EPFO 3.0,’ a revolutionary system that will enable direct PF withdrawals from ATMs. This new feature aims to provide banking-like convenience and seamless digital transactions for EPFO members.
With these technological advancements, EPFO continues to modernize its services, ensuring faster and more convenient access to provident fund benefits for millions of subscribers across India.
