Filmmakers Apologize After Public Backlash Over ‘Operation Sindoor’ Movie Poster
The poster for the first-ever film based on ‘Operation Sindoor,’ an Indian Army operation in response to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, was recently released. However, it was later taken down. The poster featured a woman in an army uniform confidently applying sindoor (vermilion) on her forehead.
The film, produced by renowned filmmaker Jackie Bhagnani’s brothers, Vicky Bhagnani and Nikki Bhagnani, is being made under the banner of Nikki Vicky Bhagnani Films and The Content Engineer Productions. The film is directed by Nitin Kumar Gupta and Uttam Maheshwari.
Release of the ‘Operation Sindoor’ Poster
The poster for this film, inspired by ‘Operation Sindoor,’ was shared by Manav Manglani on his social media account. However, following strong opposition, it was deleted.
Strong Backlash After the Film Announcement
After the announcement, the film poster faced significant criticism. Nikki Bhagnani issued an apology, stating, “Given the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, this is not the right time to release this film. This is not a time to seek money or fame.” Due to the backlash, Manav Manglani deleted the post and also apologized.
Filmmakers Issue Apology
In her apology, Nikki Bhagnani wrote, “I sincerely apologize for announcing the film based on ‘Operation Sindoor,’ which is inspired by the recent courageous efforts of our Indian Armed Forces. My intention was never to hurt anyone’s feelings. I have been deeply moved by the courage, sacrifice, and strength of our soldiers and leadership, and I only wanted to bring this powerful story to light.”
