Huawei to Unveil Foldable PC Alongside Nova 14 Series and FreeArc Earphones

Beijing, May 15th: Huawei is preparing for a major launch event in China on May 19th, where the company is anticipated to unveil its first foldable PC along with the Huawei Nova 14 series and FreeArc open earphones.

According to multiple leaks on Weibo, the upcoming foldable notebook is likely to be called the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design, bearing the model number HPR-W72. If the leaks are accurate, the device could mark Huawei’s entry into the foldable PC segment, positioning it against the likes of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold and ASUS ZenBook 17 Fold OLED.

Leaked Specifications and Design Details

A leaked image circulating on Weibo reveals that the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design will come equipped with 32GB of RAM and 2TB of internal storage, housed in a Forged Shadow Black finish.

A teaser released by Huawei today also hints at the device’s ultra-thin design and leather-textured finish, with the words “Ultimate Design” prominently displayed.

Additionally, well-known Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station reports that the foldable PC will feature a large foldable screen with a built-in large-area linear motor, enabling simulated keyboard typing.

Powered by In-House Kirin X90 Processor

Under the hood, the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design is rumored to be powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin X90 processor. This chip is expected to deliver enhanced performance for multitasking and media consumption.

If confirmed, the foldable PC will also run on HarmonyOS, the operating system recently introduced by Huawei to unify its ecosystem of devices.

Market Positioning and Competition

Currently, the foldable PC market is relatively niche, with limited offerings such as the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold and ASUS ZenBook 17 Fold OLED. Huawei’s entry into this segment could potentially elevate the competition, especially with its high-end specifications and cutting-edge design.

Further details, including official pricing and availability, are expected to be announced during the launch event next week.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Huawei MateBook Fold Ultimate Design and other products set to debut on May 19th.
