Lost or Stolen Mobile Phone on a Train? New Railway App Can Help You Get It Back Quickly
It’s quite common for passengers to lose their smartphones or become victims of theft while traveling by train. Such situations can be stressful and frustrating. To address this issue, Indian Railways has introduced a new feature that makes it easier to trace and recover lost or stolen mobile phones. This initiative is a joint effort between the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
What Is This New System?
The DoT’s ‘Sanchar Saathi’ portal has now been integrated with Indian Railways’ ‘Rail Madad’ app. Through this system, passengers can report their lost or stolen mobile phones directly on the Rail Madad app. The complaint is automatically forwarded to the Sanchar Saathi portal, where the phone can be blocked to prevent misuse and tracking can be initiated.
Key Features of the Sanchar Saathi Portal
-
Phone Blocking: Users can block their lost or stolen mobile phones to prevent unauthorized use.
-
Tracking and Recovery: The police and RPF are informed to assist with tracing and recovering the device.
-
Cybercrime Reporting: The portal also allows users to report telecom resource misuse, cyber fraud, and other digital crimes.
How to File a Complaint
If your mobile phone is lost or stolen while traveling by train, follow these steps:
-
Download the Rail Madad app and file a complaint regarding the lost or stolen phone.
-
The complaint will be automatically forwarded to the Sanchar Saathi portal.
-
Alternatively, you can directly visit www.sancharsaathi.gov.in to block your phone and complete the necessary steps.
This newly integrated system is designed to make the process of tracking, blocking, and recovering lost or stolen phones faster, easier, and more efficient for train passengers.
