‘Dostana 2’ to Release Directly on OTT Instead of Theatres

Karan Johar has revived the ‘Dostana 2’ project, but instead of opting for a theatrical release, he has decided to premiere the film directly on an OTT platform.
The role originally intended for Kartik Aaryan has now been offered to Vikrant Massey. While Vikrant is a talented actor, he is not regarded as a commercially viable star at the box office. Lakshya Lalwani plays a significant role in the film as well, but his name too lacks major box office appeal.
Furthermore, Janhvi Kapoor is being replaced in the film. If a newcomer is cast in her place, it is unlikely that the film will draw audiences to theatres based on star power alone. Considering these factors, Karan Johar has partnered with an OTT platform to release the film digitally.
