Expanded Kia Carens Line-up to Offer a Wider Price Range and More Choices for Buyers
The upcoming facelifted Kia Carens and its EV variant will be sold alongside the current model, significantly expanding the MPV’s price range.
Kia India is set to introduce new versions of the Carens MPV, with the facelift launching in April, followed by the all-electric variant in June. Unlike a direct replacement, the facelifted Carens will be positioned higher in the lineup while retaining the ‘Carens’ name with an additional suffix.
Kia Carens Facelift: New Name and Market Positioning
- The updated model will be positioned above the current Carens in the lineup.
- Kia follows Maruti Suzuki’s strategy of positioning the Ertiga and XL6 separately.
- The top-end Carens facelift is expected to cross the ₹20 lakh price mark.
The new Carens facelift, frequently spotted in testing, showcases a more SUV-like, muscular design, incorporating modern Kia styling cues similar to the Syros. In order to create a clearer distinction between the standard and facelifted variants, Kia may exclude the 115hp 1.5-litre petrol engine from the new version. However, the 160hp turbo-petrol engine and the 116hp diesel engine are expected to be shared between both models.
Kia Carens EV to Lead the Line-up
With an expected top-end price of around ₹25 lakh, the Kia Carens EV will sit at the pinnacle of the range. The all-electric MPV is anticipated to share its powertrain with the Hyundai Creta EV, which offers 42kWh and 51.4kWh battery pack options. These provide MIDC-rated ranges of 390km and 473km, respectively.
By introducing multiple versions of the Carens, Kia is set to widen its appeal, offering more options for buyers across different price points.
