After years of working on electric vehicle concepts, Maruti Suzuki is finally ready to enter the electric segment with its first electric car, the Maruti e Vitara. Last year, at the Auto Expo in Milan, Italy, Maruti’s parent company Suzuki unveiled the e Vitara and shared the first official images of the car. Now, Maruti Suzuki has listed the car on its official website.
Teasers Released Continuously!
In the last few weeks, several teasers of the Maruti e Vitara have been released, each revealing new details. The car will be showcased at the India Mobility Global Expo, which will take place in Delhi on January 17th. There are reports suggesting that the car could be launched for sale by March. This will be a global model for Suzuki, which will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant. The plan is to export 50% of its production to Japan and European markets.
How Is the Suzuki e Vitara?
Talking about the new Suzuki e Vitara, it closely resembles the concept model. The design and size of the car are similar to the Maruti eVX. However, some sharp angles have been reduced, although most of the design remains similar to the eVX concept. The car features tri-splash LED daytime running lights at the front and rear, charging ports at the front corners, and curved wheel arches at the back. The rear door handle is integrated into the C-pillar, which resembles the design of the old Swift.
Equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, this electric SUV has the following dimensions:
Dimensions of Suzuki e Vitara:
Length: 4,275 mm
Width: 1,800 mm
Height: 1,635 mm
Wheelbase: 2,700 mm
Ground Clearance: 180 mm
Battery Pack and Variants
The Suzuki e Vitara will be offered with two different battery packs: 49kWh and 61kWh. The larger battery pack comes with a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup, which Suzuki has named All Grip-E. It uses a Blade Cell lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack sourced from Chinese car company Build Your Dream (BYD). While other car manufacturers usually import only the battery cells, assemble them locally, and use them in their vehicles, Suzuki is importing the entire battery pack from BYD.
Although Suzuki has not yet provided official information about the driving range of this electric SUV, the company previously stated that the 61kWh battery pack, during global testing, could provide a driving range of up to 500 km on a full charge. Therefore, it is expected that the e Vitara electric SUV will offer a similar range.
