Updated MG Astor Launched in India, Priced from ₹10 Lakh: Compact SUV with Level-2 ADAS and 49+ Safety Features
Introduction
JSW-MG India has launched the 2025 model of its compact SUV, Astor, in India. The updated model continues to offer more than 49 safety features, a personal AI assistant, and Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). New features have been added to the Shine and Select variants.
New Features Added
The Shine variant now comes with a panoramic sunroof and a 6-speaker sound system, making it the first SUV in its segment to offer a panoramic sunroof at a price below ₹12.5 lakh. Additionally, the Select variant now includes six airbags and leatherette seat upholstery.
Price Hike for Shine and Select Variants
There has been a price increase for certain variants of the MG Astor. The Shine petrol manual variant has become ₹36,000 more expensive, while the Select manual and automatic variants have seen a price hike of ₹38,000. However, the starting price remains at ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). No price changes have been made for other variants.
Competitors
The MG Astor continues to compete with rivals such as Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
Specifications of the 2025 MG Astor
The company has made no cosmetic or mechanical changes to the new Astor. It still features front ventilated seats, an auto-dimming IRVM, and a wireless phone charger. The car boasts 49+ safety features, including a 360-degree around-view camera and 14 Level-2 ADAS safety features.
A 10.1-inch infotainment system is standard across all variants, now upgraded with Smart 2.0 UI. The car also offers enhanced connected car facilities, including weather updates, news, calculator, geo-voice recognition, and voice commands. The infotainment system now supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
The latest model retains features like automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat. Passenger safety is ensured through six airbags, electronic stability control, hill ascent and descent control, and heated ORVMs. The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping/departure assist, and blind spot detection.
Performance
There are no changes to the engine or gearbox options in the new MG Astor. It continues to offer two engine choices:
A 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 110 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque.
A 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 140 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque.
Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and CVT gearbox.
