OnePlus 13, 13R to Receive Four Years of Android Updates
OnePlus has officially confirmed that the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R will receive four years of Android OS updates, debunking earlier reports that suggested the out-of-the-box software would count as one of the updates.
Both devices will launch with Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 and will receive updates up to Android 19, ensuring long-term software support. Additionally, the phones will be covered with six years of security patches, aligning with the company’s previous flagship update policies.
OnePlus Watch 2, Watch 3 Update Policy
OnePlus has also clarified its update policy for its smartwatches. The OnePlus Watch 2 and Watch 3 will receive three years of software updates, along with quarterly security updates:
- OnePlus Watch 2: Ships with WearOS 4, will be updated to WearOS 5 and WearOS 6 (support until 2026).
- OnePlus Watch 3: Comes with WearOS 5, will receive WearOS 6 and WearOS 7 (support until 2027).
How OnePlus Updates Compare to Other Brands
While Google and Samsung offer seven years of OS updates for their flagship smartphones, OnePlus lags slightly behind with its four-year software update policy. However, it still outperforms brands like Motorola, HMD/Nokia, Honor, and Xiaomi, which generally provide only two years of OS support.
With this update policy, OnePlus aims to strike a balance between long-term software support and hardware innovation, making its flagship devices a solid choice for users seeking reliability and longevity.
