Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (May 24, 2025), during his address at the NITI Aayog meeting, emphasized the significant progress being made in regions once troubled by Maoist extremism. He noted that areas historically affected by Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) are now witnessing a surge in development, with education and healthcare playing a central role in this transformation.
“Earlier, these regions were known for violence and underdevelopment, but today, we see schools, roads, hospitals, and jobs bringing change,” said PM Modi. He credited the joint efforts of the Union government and state administrations, calling it a true example of “Team India.”
The Prime Minister also said that the central government has taken targeted steps to improve infrastructure, ensure the presence of police and security forces, and boost confidence among local populations.
He further added that tribal welfare schemes, rural connectivity projects, and the expansion of digital services have helped uplift backward regions. According to Modi, education has become the “main weapon” in the fight against extremism.
