Rahul Gandhi Warns Gujarat Congress Leaders, Calls for Organizational Revamp

During his visit to Gujarat on March 8, 2025, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed party workers in Ahmedabad, delivering a strong message about internal challenges within the state’s Congress unit. He accused certain Congress leaders of secretly working with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), thereby weakening the party’s position in Gujarat.

Gandhi pointed out that the Gujarat Congress consists of two distinct groups:

  1. Those who genuinely connect with the people and uphold the party’s ideology.
  2. Those who remain detached and, in some cases, align with the BJP.

He emphasized that unless the party separates these factions, it cannot regain the public’s trust.

Strict Action Against Party Leaders Working with BJP

Rahul Gandhi made it clear that the Congress is ready to take strict action against those undermining the party from within. He stated that if necessary, up to 40 leaders could be removed to strengthen the organization.

“If we have to remove 10, 15, 20, or even 30-40 leaders, we must do it. If you are working for the BJP from within, go ahead and work for them openly. But you won’t get a place here,” Gandhi said firmly.

He urged Congress leaders to engage with the people of Gujarat, listen to their concerns, and rebuild the party’s grassroots connections.

Congress Needs Just 5% More Votes to Win Gujarat

Gandhi pointed out that 40% of Gujarat’s voters currently support the opposition. He explained that if Congress could increase its vote share by just 5%, it could significantly change Gujarat’s political landscape.

Citing Telangana’s recent elections, where the Congress increased its vote share by 22%, he expressed confidence that similar success could be achieved in Gujarat with the right reforms.

BJP’s Response

Following Gandhi’s remarks, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi responded by criticizing the Congress leader. He suggested that instead of blaming internal factions, Rahul Gandhi should focus on self-introspection.

“This only reflects the deep internal problems of the Congress. Instead of motivating his party workers, Rahul Gandhi is publicly reprimanding them,” Trivedi said.

Final Takeaway

Rahul Gandhi’s speech in Gujarat highlights his determination to revitalize the party by addressing internal issues and rebuilding public trust. With crucial elections ahead, Congress is under pressure to strengthen its state-level leadership and grassroots outreach.
