Vodafone Idea 5G Services Go Live in Delhi NCR

Vodafone Idea has officially launched its 5G services in the Delhi NCR region, marking the fourth city in India to receive Vi’s high-speed network. The telecom operator had previously rolled out 5G in Mumbai, Patna, and Chandigarh. The expansion comes after successful 5G trials in Delhi, where the company reportedly achieved speeds of up to 170 Mbps.

The 5G rollout in Delhi NCR is part of Vi’s broader plan to cover 17 priority circles by August 2025, backed by a ₹55,000 crore capital expenditure investment over the next three years.

Network Infrastructure and Technology

  • Infrastructure Partner: Vi has partnered with Ericsson for the 5G network deployment in Delhi NCR.

  • Technology: The company is implementing AI-powered self-organising network (SON) technology to optimise network performance.

  • Network Transition: Vi uses a 5G non-standalone (NSA) architecture, allowing for a smoother transition between 4G and 5G networks.

Introductory Offers and Plans

As part of the introductory offer, Vi is providing unlimited data for users with 5G-compatible devices on plans starting at ₹299. Subscribers can expect improved internet speeds for streaming, gaming, faster downloads, and real-time cloud access.

  • Prepaid Plans: Vi offers eight unlimited 5G plans in Mumbai, starting from ₹299.

  • Postpaid Plans: Four unlimited 5G packs are available for postpaid users.

Next Cities and Future Expansion

Following Delhi NCR, Bengaluru and Mysore are next in line for Vodafone Idea’s 5G rollout. The company has stated that the network expansion in other key markets is underway.

In Mumbai, Vi claims that 70 percent of eligible users are already experiencing its 5G services, and similar penetration is expected in upcoming cities.
