Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services experienced a sudden disruption this afternoon, affecting users across several cities in India, including Delhi-NCR. The outage left many people unable to complete digital payments, causing widespread inconvenience.

According to available information, users of Paytm, PhonePe, and Google Pay were the most impacted. The outage prevented them from making UPI payments. Reports about the issue started surfacing around 12 PM on Saturday, with users posting complaints on DownDetector, a website that tracks service disruptions.

What Was the Nature of the Problem?

During the outage, users who scanned UPI QR codes received a message indicating that the payment was being processed. However, even after waiting for five minutes, the transactions failed to complete. The issue has also been reported in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, among other cities.

People who are accustomed to using UPI for everyday transactions found themselves stuck, as payments could not go through. The outage has affected millions of users, highlighting the heavy dependence on digital payment platforms in daily life.
