Delhi: Declaring Ambedkar Jayanti as a public holiday is a well-deserved recognition for the architect of India’s Constitution, said Dr. Rajeev Menon, National Secretary General of the Republican Party of India. He emphasized that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who was born into an underprivileged community, created a Constitution that ensured security and protection for all citizens of India.
Dr. Menon highlighted that Dr. Ambedkar designed the Constitution while staying true to Indian culture and values, without yielding to any external criticism. He added that Ambedkar Jayanti, celebrated as Bhim Jayanti on April 14, marks the birth anniversary of a leader who worked tirelessly to uphold national integrity and strengthen the country through a strong constitutional framework.
Dr. Menon also pointed out that Dr. Ambedkar, who was a minister in Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet and was widely respected globally, did not receive the recognition he deserved from past governments. He welcomed the Narendra Modi government’s decision to declare Ambedkar Jayanti as a public holiday, calling it a commendable step toward honoring Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions.
He further expressed his gratitude to the Modi government for its commitment to bringing together people from all sections of society. “The Modi government has demonstrated great vision in uniting the nation and giving Dr. Ambedkar the recognition he truly deserves,” Dr. Menon said.
Dr. Menon concluded by extending his warm greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government for taking this significant step. He urged citizens to take inspiration from Dr. Ambedkar’s teachings and continue working towards a more just and equal society.
