Bajaj Sets Sales Record on Gudi Padwa: Over 26,000 Vehicles Sold in a Single Day, Including 6,570 Electric Chetak Scooters
On the occasion of Gudi Padwa, the spring festival marking Maharashtra’s New Year, Bajaj Auto achieved record-breaking sales in the state. The company announced that it sold 26,938 vehicles in a single day, including motorcycles and its electric scooter, Chetak.
Sales Nearly Double Compared to Last Year’s Gudi Padwa
According to company data, on March 28, Bajaj surpassed all previous sales records in Maharashtra. Sales were nearly twice as high as last year’s Gudi Padwa and even outperformed the Diwali season sales.
Sales Breakdown: 19,017 Motorcycles & 6,570 Electric Chetak Scooters
The Pune-based company sold 19,017 motorcycles and 6,570 electric Chetak scooters, accounting for nearly a quarter of its total production. Additionally, Bajaj sold 658 KTM bikes and 693 premium Triumph bikes.
High Demand for the Chetak 35 Series Fuels Record Sales
A senior company official credited the success to the recently launched premium Chetak 35 Series, which saw strong demand. Positioned in the premium electric scooter segment (priced above ₹1 lakh), this model has strengthened Bajaj’s market presence. The Chetak 3502 starts at ₹1.30 lakh, with its top-end variant priced at ₹1.42 lakh.
Bajaj Commands a 50% Market Share in the Electric Scooter Segment
In the premium electric scooter category (₹1 lakh+), Bajaj held a 15% market share, which is expected to grow with this new launch. Currently, the company controls 50% of the overall electric scooter market, supported by its strong distribution network of approximately 1,200 dealers across Maharashtra.
