India Aims for a Whitewash Against England, While Promoting Organ Donation Awareness

India’s Final ODI Against England to Raise Awareness on Organ Donation On February 12, 2025, India will take on England in the final One-Day match of the series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In addition to the cricketing action, the match will serve as a platform for raising awareness about organ donation. The International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman, Jay Shah, announced the launch of the “Donate Organs, Save Lives” campaign, which will encourage spectators to pledge for organ donation during the match.

Spectators to Participate in Organ Donation Pledge
During the match, attendees will be asked to take a pledge to promote organ donation. Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, confirmed that the Gujarat Cricket Association, along with BCCI and the Red Cross, is organizing the initiative. “We aim to raise awareness about organ donation and have spectators take the pledge. A specific time will be allocated during the match for this activity,” Patel explained.

BCCI Supports the Campaign with Star Cricketers’ Video Message
Ahead of the match, BCCI released a video on social media featuring star players such as Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and others. In the video, the cricketers urge viewers to pledge for organ donation and highlight its life-saving potential.

Indian Red Cross to Encourage Participation with QR Code
The Indian Red Cross Society has also stepped in, urging the people of Ahmedabad and Gujarat to participate. They have provided a QR code for spectators to easily register their pledge to donate organs. “One organ donor can save up to eight lives, and we are calling on everyone to take the pledge tomorrow,” said a Red Cross spokesperson.

Red Cross Volunteers to Promote the Cause
Over 1,000 volunteers from Red Cross, including blood donors and camp organizers, will be stationed at the stadium to encourage people to sign the pledge. Volunteers will be given complimentary tickets by BCCI and will use their presence to promote organ donation and create awareness among the attendees.

Conclusion
This initiative aims to make a significant impact, both on and off the field, as India strives for a whitewash against England while simultaneously raising awareness about the importance of organ donation.
