A major scam involving ₹2500 crore land in Dumus, Vata, and Gaviya’s silent zones has come to light, revealing the creation of 351 fake property cards. The scam, which involved four major builders from the city, was carried out in collaboration with government officials, who fraudulently encroached on farmers’ land. The CID Crime Branch is investigating the case, with the government starting verification of documents against official records. Authorities have also begun questioning those suspected of involvement in the scam.
In this investigation, a partnership deed of Samruddhi Corporation has surfaced, showing that builders Naresh Shah holds a 40% stake, and Manhar Kakadiya holds a 20% stake. The CID has launched an in-depth probe into the role of former Superintendent of Land Records, Kana Gamit, who is suspected of creating fake documents. Out of the 351 fake property cards, 150 have already been canceled, while the process to cancel the remaining 200 cards is underway.
SLR Gamit’s Key Role in Creating Fake Property Cards
The fake property cards were created using a login ID from the District Land Records Officer (DLRO) Anant Patel under the supervision of the then SLR Kana Gamit. The cards were prepared using Anant Patel’s thumbprint. When Patel became aware of the fraud, he reported it to the then Collector Dhaval Patel, who promptly suspended the property cards. Currently, 150 out of the 351 fake cards have been canceled, and the process to cancel the remaining 200 cards is in progress.
Builder Azad Ramoliya’s Interrogation
The CID Crime Branch has summoned builder Azad Ramoliya, a partner in Samruddhi Corporation, and retrieved bogus property cards and other documents from him. These documents are being cross-checked with government records. A total of 135 fake property cards were created on seven plots of land owned by Azad Ramoliya. The investigation agency is verifying all documents and statements.
