In an unprecedented move for youth football development, the Aparup Futsal School, under the leadership of AIFF Match Commissioner Aparup Chakraborty, has launched the second phase of its groundbreaking School Futsal Development League across Bengal. With a goal of identifying elite talent and offering structured progression, the initiative is quickly becoming a model for grassroots sports transformation in India with 1 lakh plus school kids participating from 227+ government schools .
After the initial intra- and inter-school league matches under the AIFF Blue Cubs banner, Round 2 will focus on selecting the top 25 players from each school to form U13 elite squads. These children will be provided advanced training through the Aparup LNFS Futsal School, which will function as a talent incubator supported by national and international football bodies.
What sets this league apart is its integration with India’s existing football ecosystem. Scouting organization IKF (Indian Scouting Platform) has partnered with the program to identify and promote standout performers into the AIFF and State Youth Leagues. “Our goal is to give rural and semi-urban children the same footballing opportunities as those in metro cities,” said Aparup. “We’re building a bridge from school grounds to professional clubs.”
The initiative has also received endorsements from key stakeholders:
- Mr. Subrata Dutta, IFA Chairman, lauded the project’s originality and confirmed that official IFA scouts will attend matches to monitor talent. He also vouches to stay with Aparup as long as he will spearhead Indian Futsal.
- Mr. Srinjoy Bose, former General Secretary of Mohun Bagan, stated, “This has the potential to reshape grassroots football in India. We support Aparup wholeheartedly. But corporate must come forward to join hands.”
- Mr. Chandan Roy Chowdhury, President of the Bengal Olympic Association, emphasized the future potential of Futsal as an Olympic sport and described Aparup as “a loyal Futsal soldier who’s always ahead of the curve.”
- Mr. Chandi Charan Samanta, Head Coordinator for Midnapore District, highlighted the success of their “Train the Trainers” program, which educated 50 PE teachers to bring Futsal into daily school life. “We plan to introduce 100 Blue Cubs as Aparup envisioned,” he added.
With talent identification, training, and elevation all under one roof, the Aparup Futsal League is no longer just a tournament—it’s a movement. And for many young children in Bengal, it’s the first real step towards a soccer future.
