PM Modi Enthralled by Surat’s Spirit: ‘Where People Are Enthusiastic, Everything Should Be Grand!’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Gujarat and the Union Territory for his two-day visit starting today (March 7). After landing at Surat Airport in the afternoon, he traveled directly to Silvassa, where he inaugurated development projects worth ₹2,578 crores, including the newly built Namo Hospital. After completing his engagements in Silvassa, he reached Surat, where he conducted a 3-km-long roadshow, warmly greeting the public. Later, he addressed a massive gathering at Nilgiri Ground.

PM Modi’s First Visit to Surat After Becoming Prime Minister for the Third Time
This was PM Modi’s first visit to Surat after being elected Prime Minister for the third consecutive term. He began his speech by greeting the audience with a friendly “Kem Cho?” and acknowledged Surat’s rapid development. He emphasized the city’s potential, stating, “We aim to make Surat a global business hub. Where the people are enthusiastic, everything should be grand.”

Grand Welcome and Roadshow in Surat
After completing his engagements in Silvassa, PM Modi arrived in Surat according to his scheduled itinerary. He was welcomed at the airport by BJP leader CR Paatil and other dignitaries, before taking a helicopter to Silvassa.

Upon his return to Surat, he participated in a spectacular 3-km-long roadshow from Parvat Patiya to Nilgiri Ground. Thousands of enthusiastic supporters lined the streets, cheering for him. At the event venue, PM Modi, along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and CR Paatil, rode in an open jeep, waving to the public. CM Patel also signed autographs for several attendees.

During his visit to Silvassa, PM Modi conducted a roadshow before inaugurating the newly constructed Namo Hospital. He inspected its facilities and later addressed a public gathering. He laid the foundation stones and inaugurated various development projects worth over ₹2,500 crores in the Union Territory.

Vision to Develop the Union Territory Like Singapore
While addressing the gathering in Silvassa, PM Modi expressed his vision to develop the region on par with Singapore. He urged the people to support this initiative and assured them of his continued commitment. Additionally, he raised concerns about obesity, advising people to reduce their edible oil consumption by 10%. Citing a report, he warned that by 2050, over 400 million people in India could be affected by obesity.

PM Modi’s Special Connection with Surat
PM Modi received a grand welcome in Surat with a traditional “Zari-embroidered” shawl, symbolizing the city’s rich textile heritage. During his speech, he expressed gratitude, saying, “Gujarat nurtured me, and the country accepted me with love. I will always be indebted to the people of Surat for their role in shaping me.”

He also praised Surat’s commitment to cleanliness, stating, “Whenever there is a cleanliness competition in India, Surat always ranks first or second. The credit goes to the people of Surat.”

‘A Poor Man’s Son Guarantees Support for the Poor’ – PM Modi
PM Modi asserted that while no one usually provides guarantees to the poor, he has taken it upon himself to do so. “A poor man’s son has decided that Modi will be the guarantee for every poor person,” he said. Highlighting the success of the Mudra Yojana, he noted that ₹32 lakh crores had been provided to the underprivileged. Taking a jibe at his critics, he said, “Those who abuse me don’t even understand how many zeros are in ₹32 lakh crores. Zero-seat politicians will never get it.”

PM to Hand Over His Social Media Accounts to Inspirational Women on Women’s Day
In a special Women’s Day initiative, PM Modi announced that he had encouraged women across India to share their achievements on the NaMo App. “You’ll be happy to know that many women and girls have shared their inspiring stories. On Women’s Day, I will hand over my social media accounts to such inspirational women,” he declared.
