‘Judge, I Have Been Wrongfully Framed’: Accused in Saif Ali Khan Attack Case Files Bail Plea, Claims Innocence

Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad, who was arrested for allegedly attacking Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, has filed a bail application in the Mumbai Sessions Court. The accused claims that a false case has been registered against him and that he is being framed as part of a conspiracy.

Accused’s Lawyer Argues That All Allegations Are False

Shariful Islam’s lawyer stated in the plea that his client is being falsely accused. He argued that the accused was not involved in any crime and that the FIR was wrongfully filed. The lawyer further asserted that Shariful Islam has fully cooperated with the investigation and that the police already have all necessary evidence, including CCTV footage and call records. Therefore, the possibility of tampering with evidence does not arise.

The Bandra police have yet to file a chargesheet in the case. The court is expected to hear Shariful’s bail application soon.

According to reports, Shariful Islam allegedly broke into Saif Ali Khan’s house with the intent to commit theft at 2 AM on January 15. During the incident, he attacked Saif with a knife, inflicting injuries on his neck, back, hands, and head. Following the attack, Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent treatment for five days.

Shariful Islam Identified as a Bangladeshi Citizen

The police recovered a Bangladeshi identity card and driving license from Shariful Islam. He had been illegally residing in Mumbai under the name Vijay Das for the past five months and was reportedly working as a caretaker.

Details of the Incident

At the time of the attack, three female and three male domestic workers were present in Saif’s house. Saif’s children, Ibrahim and Sara Ali Khan, were also in the same building on the eighth floor. After the attack, they rushed downstairs and took Saif to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw, as no driver was available at home and no one knew how to operate an automatic electric vehicle.
