Sunny Deol’s Film ‘Jaat’ Hit by Major Censor Board Setback Before Release – 23 Cuts Ordered

Sunny Deol’s upcoming film ‘Jaat’ is all set to release in theatres on April 10. However, just hours before its release, the makers have faced a significant hurdle. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted the film a U/A certificate, but only after demanding substantial changes — a total of 23 cuts.

Censor Board Mandates Major Edits in ‘Jaat’

The CBFC instructed the filmmakers to make multiple cuts and alter various dialogues. Several scenes, especially those involving a female inspector being disrespected, have been trimmed by nearly 40%. Additionally, graphic scenes depicting the severing of body parts such as the head, thumb, and other limbs have been edited or removed.

Obscene Content and Visuals Also Altered

In addition to the violence, the board flagged scenes containing obscene language and suggestive gestures. These have been modified using computer-generated imagery (CGI). A particular scene showing Indian currency under people’s feet was digitally altered — zoomed in and covered — to avoid offending sentiments.

Despite these changes, ‘Jaat’ has generated strong buzz, especially after the release of its trailer, which was well received by audiences. With this film, Sunny Deol is once again set to unleash the power of his iconic “dhai kilo ka haath” (two-and-a-half-kilo hand).
