Indian Spinners Overwhelm Kiwi Batsmen; New Zealand Struggles to Reach 100 in 25 Overs

In the final group match of the Champions Trophy 2025, India set a target of 250 runs for New Zealand at Dubai International Stadium. After winning the toss, New Zealand chose to bowl, and India’s spinners made short work of the Kiwi batsmen. Despite a valiant effort, New Zealand managed only 249 runs in 50 overs, losing eight wickets in the process.

Shreyas Iyer was the star for India, scoring 79 runs, while New Zealand’s Matt Henry wreaked havoc with the ball by taking five crucial wickets. Facing relentless pressure from the Indian spin attack, New Zealand’s batsmen could not even cross the 100-run mark after 25 overs and lost their third wicket shortly thereafter. Under this onslaught, Kiwi batsmen Ken Williams and Tom Letham found themselves under immense pressure.

Will Young contributed 22 runs before being bowled by Varun Chakravarthy, and Rachin Ravindra, who scored 6 runs, was caught by Akshar Patel off Hardik Pandya’s delivery.
