India and Mauritius Strengthen Bilateral Relations with Strategic MoUs and Developmental Initiatives

India-Funded Infrastructure and Economic Projects E-Inaugurated to Boost Mauritius’ Growth

India and Mauritius Sign Multiple MoUs, E-Inaugurate India-Funded Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mauritius Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam presided over the exchange of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and jointly e-inaugurated 20 India-funded developmental projects, reinforcing the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.

The key MoUs signed include:

Local Currency Settlement System: Agreement between the Central Bank of Mauritius and the Reserve Bank of India to facilitate trade and investment in local currencies.
Credit Facility Agreement: Between the Government of Mauritius and the State Bank of India to finance projects implemented by the Central Water Authority under the Pipe Replacement Programme.

Diplomatic Training Programme: MoU between the Institute of Foreign Service of India and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration, and International Trade of Mauritius to enhance diplomatic training.

Maritime and Ocean Research Collaboration: MoU between the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (Ministry of Earth Sciences, India) and the Department for Continental Shelf, Maritime Zones Administration, and Exploration (Prime Minister’s Office, Mauritius) to advance cooperation in ocean research and maritime studies.

The signing of these agreements and the inauguration of key projects highlight India’s commitment to supporting Mauritius’ infrastructure, economic growth, and capacity-building initiatives.
