PM Modi flags off 103 revamped Amrit Bharat stations across 18 states

On May 22, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated 103 redeveloped railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, spanning 86 districts across 18 Indian states and Union Territories. This initiative is part of the Indian Railways’ mission to modernize over 1,300 stations nationwide, focusing on improved infrastructure, accessibility, and cultural representation.

  • Enhanced Passenger Amenities: The upgraded stations feature modern facilities, including improved platforms, waiting areas, ticketing systems, and amenities for differently-abled individuals.

  • Cultural Integration: Design elements at the stations reflect local heritage and architecture, promoting regional culture and identity.

  • Economic Boost: The ‘One Station One Product’ initiative provides space for local artisans to market regional crafts and goods, supporting traditional industries.

  • Environmental Considerations: The redevelopment emphasizes sustainable practices, including energy-efficient designs and facilities.

The inauguration event also included the dedication of 43 additional projects valued at ₹23,400 crore to the nation, furthering the government’s infrastructure development goals.
