Amman Erupts in Protest Against Trump’s Gaza Proposal
On February 28, thousands of Jordanians gathered in Amman to protest against former US President Donald Trump’s controversial proposal for Palestinians in Gaza. Demonstrators expressed solidarity with Palestinians, denouncing what they see as an attempt to erase Palestinian identity and forcibly displace Gaza’s population.
Trump’s plan, which has sparked outrage across the Arab world, suggests resettling Palestinians from Gaza into Jordan and Egypt while transforming the war-torn strip into an international beach resort. Both Jordan and Egypt have firmly rejected the proposal, calling it unacceptable and a violation of Palestinian sovereignty.
Arab World Rejects Forced Resettlement
Jordan’s government has condemned the plan, reaffirming that Palestinians have the right to remain in their homeland. Egyptian officials have also dismissed the idea, emphasizing that Gaza’s future must be determined by Palestinians themselves.
In response to Trump’s proposal, Arab nations have pledged to support Gaza’s reconstruction, pushing forward an alternative plan that prioritizes rebuilding infrastructure rather than forcibly relocating its people.
As protests continue, the message from Amman’s streets is clear—Palestinians belong in Palestine, not as refugees in other nations.
