Rituals and Devotion: President Murmu’s Visit to the Kumbh Mela

President Droupadi Murmu visited the Kumbh Mela on Monday, where she took a holy dip at the Sangam. She offered Arghya to the Sun God and performed rituals. Before bathing, she offered flowers to Mother Ganga, followed by a prayer and an Aarti ceremony.

Later, President Murmu visited the Lete Hanuman Temple, where she performed darshan and worshipped at the Akshayavat and Lete Hanuman temples. Along with the President, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel were also present.

The President’s helicopter landed at Bamrauli Airport at 9:30 AM, where Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi welcomed her. From there, they proceeded to the Sangam, reaching by boat, where she performed the religious rituals with the Chief Minister and Governor.

President Murmu will stay in Prayagraj until 4 PM. She is the second President of India to take a dip in the Sangam at the Kumbh Mela. The first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, had also bathed at the Mela in 1954.

Today marks the 29th day of the Kumbh Mela. Since January 13, over 435.7 million devotees have taken a holy dip. By 10 AM today, 6.3 million people had bathed. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also took a dip with his family and offered Arghya to the Sun God.
