Pro-Khalistan protesters staged a demonstration outside Chatham House during External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar’s discussion on March 5. Carrying flags and loudspeakers, the protesters raised slogans outside the venue during his UK visit. In a major security breach, some agitators even attempted to jump onto the minister’s car.
Taking strong note of the incident, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) condemned the “provocative activities” of these separatists. In an official statement, the MEA spokesperson expressed India’s deep concern over the misuse of democratic freedoms by extremist elements. The ministry also urged the UK government to uphold its diplomatic responsibilities and ensure adequate security in such cases.
