The state police have taken swift action in response to the rising crime rate. To strengthen law and order and impose strict measures on anti-social elements, the Director General of Police (DGP), Vikas Sahay, held an urgent video conference with all Police Commissioners, Range Heads, and Superintendents of Police (SPs). During this meeting, strict instructions were issued to prepare a list of anti-social elements within the jurisdiction of each police station across the state within 100 hours.
100-Hour Ultimatum for Action
Immediate implementation orders have been issued to take strict legal action against these anti-social elements. The list will include individuals involved in repeated offenses such as bodily harm, extortion, intimidation, property crimes, illegal liquor and gambling operations, illegal mining, and other criminal activities that create fear among the public.
Orders for PASA and Exile Action
Once the list is prepared, local administrative authorities will coordinate to determine the necessary strict actions. These measures include:
- Demolishing illegal constructions linked to these individuals.
- Taking legal action against encroachments on government land.
- Cancelling illegal electricity connections in coordination with GUVNL.
- Investigating their bank accounts for any unlawful financial activities.
- Revoking bail for those who commit further crimes after release.
- Enforcing legal provisions such as the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA) and exile orders to restrict their movements.
- Taking legal action against tenants who have failed to register their tenancy.
DGP Vikas Sahay has directed all Police Commissioners, Range Heads, and SPs to strictly enforce these orders and personally oversee their execution.
