Fatal Accident in Surat: Dumper and Bus Collide, One Worker Dies, Several Injured
Surat, February 6, 2025: A tragic accident occurred on the Surat-Hazira Highway near Hazira in Surat when a dumper collided with a private bus carrying workers from ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited (AMNS India). The crash resulted in the death of one worker and left more than 15 others injured.
The incident unfolded when the dumper driver, attempting to avoid hitting a cyclist and a car, lost control and crashed into the bus. The force of the collision caused both the dumper and the bus to overturn. The bus’s windows shattered, and several passengers were thrown onto the road, adding to the chaos.
The bus was transporting workers to their workplace at AMNS India, and there were around 50 people aboard. Emergency services responded immediately, and the injured workers were rushed to Surat Civil Hospital for medical attention. Tragically, one worker, 51-year-old Suryadev Ram, who was a contract worker with ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited (AMNS India), died from his injuries. His colleagues are reported to be in stable condition.
The accident caused major traffic jams on the highway as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and assist the injured. ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited (AMNS India) expressed deep condolences and confirmed that they are in contact with the families of the affected workers to provide support during this difficult time.
