Following the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a strong statement reaffirming India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. Speaking on Saturday during a joint press conference with Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço at Hyderabad House, PM Modi declared, “We will not spare those who support terrorists. Strict and decisive action will be taken against them.”
Angola Visit Strengthens India-Africa Ties
PM Modi highlighted the significance of the Angolan President’s visit, noting that it is the first by an Angolan head of state in 38 years. “His visit is a milestone in strengthening India-Angola ties and enhancing our broader partnership with Africa,” he added.
Thanks Angola for Support Against Terrorism
Addressing the recent Pahalgam terror incident, PM Modi emphasized the united global stance against terrorism. “Terrorism is the biggest threat to humanity. We are committed to taking strong and decisive action against terrorists and their supporters. I thank Angola for standing with us in this fight,” he said.
India Halts All Trade with Pakistan
Shortly before PM Modi’s remarks, the Ministry of Commerce announced a complete halt to all trade with Pakistan. Initially, direct trade was suspended following the Pahalgam attack. Now, the government has extended the ban to include all indirect trade as well—meaning no goods will be imported or exported between the two nations under any route. This marks a significant blow to Pakistan economically.
The Ministry has issued a notification confirming the immediate suspension of all imports and exports to and from Pakistan. Earlier, the Wagah-Attari crossing—previously the only active trade route between the two countries—had already been sealed following the attack.
