Maha Kumbh 2025 Sets a Historic Record with 66 Crore Devotees, Surpassing the Population of 193 Countries

Yogi Shares a Meal with Sanitation Workers at Maha Kumbh: Cleans the Ganga, Removes Waste; Crowds Persist Even After Conclusion

The 45-day-long Maha Kumbh concluded yesterday (February 26), yet large crowds of devotees continue to gather at the fair. Pilgrims are still arriving at the Sangam for a holy dip, vehicles are heading towards the site, and shops remain open.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with both Deputy CMs, participated in a cleanliness drive at Arela Ghat. They swept the area and removed waste from the Ganga before performing a ritual to honor the sacred river. Later in the afternoon, Yogi attended a ceremony at the Ganga Pandal, where he honored police personnel, sanitation workers, and boatmen. Following the event, he shared a meal with the sanitation workers as a gesture of respect and gratitude.

PM Modi’s Reflections on Maha Kumbh
On the occasion of Maha Kumbh’s conclusion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi penned a blog titled “Maha Kumbh of Unity – A Dawn of Transformation.” In it, he wrote, “This grand festival of unity has successfully concluded. When a nation’s consciousness awakens—breaking free from centuries of colonial mentality and embracing a renewed spirit—such a momentous event unfolds, just as we witnessed at Maha Kumbh.”

Acknowledging the scale of the event, Modi added, “Organizing such a massive gathering was no easy task. I pray to Mother Ganga, Mother Yamuna, and Mother Saraswati… O Divine Mothers, if any shortcomings remain in our worship, please forgive me. If there were any lapses in serving the devotees, I sincerely seek the people’s forgiveness.”

He further praised the efforts of CM Yogi, stating, “Under Yogi’s leadership, the government, administration, and the people worked together to make this Maha Kumbh of unity a grand success. Whether at the central or state level, there were no rulers here—only dedicated devotees, all immersed in the spirit of service.”

Security Measures and Record-Breaking Attendance
Considering the large crowds and the presence of high-profile leaders, police have implemented additional security measures, including road barricades. Vehicles are being directed to designated parking areas near the fairgrounds.

The final holy dip of Maha Kumbh took place on Mahashivratri (Wednesday), with an estimated 1.53 crore devotees participating. Over the entire festival, a record-breaking 66 crore pilgrims took a sacred dip—twice the population of the United States (approximately 34 crores).

The number of people who bathed in the Sangam exceeded the population of 193 countries. In terms of attendance, only India and China have larger populations than the number of devotees at Maha Kumbh. The Yogi government further claimed that the festival witnessed participation from nearly half of the world’s Hindu population.
